Win!
davidlandsel: Just read a blog post analyzing an article I wrote for the paper last week. The blogger referred to me as an idiot. The only downside here is that it took ten years of writing (very publicly, I’ll add) to get someone that pissed off. Better late than never, I suppose. This remains my favorite comment about my work, from a BT article over the summer: “This was so twisted...

Keep the noodles in your purse for protection
Great round-up from the New York Post Travel fellas on restaurant and food trends of ‘09/’10. I was with Landsel for his Xi’an Noodle experience. Yes, they are delicious. Also, the interior of their Manhattan location is smaller than that of the location in Flushing. It’s also smaller than the interior of a Smart Car. There is a metal console with room for 2 1/2 people...

That 90's Show
Got totally sucked into watching Pulp Fiction on the teevee last night. It’s been awhile. I had forgotten how enjoyable it is, and how iconic it has become. That said, as much as Tarantino borrowed from the 70’s, to my mind it has to be one of the defining films of the 90’s in its very 90’s-ness. (More than Kicking and Screaming, which, much as it pains me to say it, is a...

JetBlue Considering Moving Headquarters to Orlando →
(via paulbrady) Interesting, but then again, wasn’t in Schumer that negotiated the slots for JetBlue at JFK in the first place? That’s why they fly to Buffalo and Rochester et al. Seems like they’re fishing for some kind of sweetener.

Sam Goody's Radio
Love this essay by Maura about musical genre in 2009. I was thinking about this last night, spinning off from her opening. Do we even  need to categorize music anymore? No one finds it on the radio or even in a CD store, so why bother labeling? Unless there were tons of people who found the Dirty Projectors by googling “Brooklyn Alternative” or something.

Strippers, Schnitzel and Speed: The Audi Driving...
fek: Here we have a multinational car corporation subsidizing drunk driving, *maybe* paying the 5,000 Euro bill for a strip club, and my first lap dance…. Now, a lot of champagne was stirred, if I remember correctly what little I can. And the one lap dance I got—my first ever, from “Katya,” which got less and less sexy the more we argued about why she thought Hackensack, New Jersey was a better...

The Wanderer
So, I’m not sure how, exactly, but I woke up this morning with “Runaround Sue”* stuck in my head. As I listened to it and I found out that Dion was: —a teenage gang leader in the Bronx —addicted to heroin —almost in the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper and Richie Valens Crazy life. *Let the record show that I always have “Chantilly...

paulbrady: It’s not that I don’t understand the concept. Formspring and the new Ask feature on Tumblr are both ways to stay anonymous while asking a question or leaving a comment.
